humidity

This is my second post to the forum. Earlier I had questions about keeping my apartment warm enough at night to keep my two Zebras from being too cold. That problem was solved with a space heater set to 50 degrees. I've been having a wonderful time with my birds. Now I have a second "environment" question. I have some heart and lung problems and the now extremely dry steam heat and nighttime is causing me problems and I would like to use the small vaporizer to again begin to use it to help prevent respiratory problems in Me. So I wonder how sensitive the birds are to humidity. I know they originally come from a very dry climate. The (small Devilbis steamer) just makes the room comfortable, not too humid. (that of course will come in July.) I have been putting the humidifier in a nearby room and some of the humidity reaches me, but I'd prefer it closer. Would that be safe?
By the way the Zebras are very comical and so I tried for weeks to come up with appropriate names. I decided to name them after two of my most beloved and hilarious Aunts , Ruthie and Honey, who sang and tap danced for the troops during WWII. Under the name "The Flanagan Sisters".
I consider the fact that both birds are male is of no consequence. This is New York City such things are not uncommon.
Anyway, wonderful forum, has provided me with lots of information and enjoyable to read..regards all!
