Hi all, my new birds in the small amount of time I've had them, have definitely plumped a bit up, I was wondering A. Is this bad and B. If it is bad, how do I keep them from eating too much.

Thanks,
-Chris

If they are getting too fat, you can always cut back a bit on feed. Give them just the basic finch seed mix plus a few veggies for now. Are they getting spray millet? Egg food?

Cutting back on the fatty oily seeds will also help.
Fat birds are a very bad thing and will cause health and breeding issues.
Giving them plenty of exercise in a large cage/flight/aviary/room will also be helpful.
good luck

Another way to help your birds work off calories - and exercise and be in great shape - is to give them as large a cage as possible to allow them to fly.

The minimum size cage for a pair of finches is 30" long by 18" x 18".

I have mine in a Prevue F075/F070 which is about 37x21x18 (roughly).

My guys do get actual flight in in this, but I hope to move them soon to 2 F050 cages hooked together to give them 6' of flight space.

But 30" to 36" will certainly help to give them exercise. What size cage are they in at the moment?
