Using local natural materials

Is there very much of a health risk to birds if a few natural materials from the local area are put in their cage. Things like Pampas (tall marsh grasses with the plumes), tall dried field grasses, Sycamore tree bark that the tree sheds, etc.

Grasses you collect in nature are great, especially when they are in the green seeding stage. The only thing you have to watch for is areas that could have been sprayed with herbicides/pesticides. You also don't want to collect grasses from right next to a road (nasty emissions). The more things you can offer your birds to keep them entertained/interested, the better for them IMO.
