Question About Zebras

Hi. I have a male zebra finch. I want to get him a companion. I would like to know if I can get another male because I don't want them to breed. Would the other male be accepted, if not should I get a female? Would she then be accepted and how do I stop them from breeding? I would appreciate your opinions.

ps I have a canary in a different cage next to my finch cage for now for company.

Thank you

I'm going to move your post into its own thread, since this thread is mainly about canaries. I'll put it in the "New to the Hobby" forum, and title it "Question About Zebras".

To answer your question, yes you can put 2 male Zebras together, as long as when you introduce the new male, you rearrange the cage (perches, feeders, etc.), and then put both birds back in, so that the cage environment is new to both birds. If you get a female, it is almost impossible to stop breeding.
