2 fighting zebzras separated into two cages...what now?

Post by rayeast » Thu Aug 04, 2016 3:41 pm

It's long story. My two males zebras first started bickering a lot several weeks ago. It grew worse and then I began to notice the younger one, Junior (who had just come into full coloring) had begun chasing the other one to the point it was keeping it from eating.
I had earlier placed two of everything they needed at opposite ends of the cage but the chased one was suffering and getting a little lethargic.
Anyway , three days ago I put junior in a separate cage. The under-fed on seemed just as agitated and fearful and was still not eating till yesterday when I put a cloth over one end of juniors cage. to block the cross view. Both are eating, and the weak one has calmed down when he hears the other.
So what do I do? Can they be put together some time soon.? I am thinking of letting the two alone for a while -- then in a week or so try a let them see each other. They are in my apartment so I see and talk to them both a lot.
So, please, anyone know what next.?

Hi there mate,

You've got two cock birds there, it's a known fact that in the bird world cock birds just simply don't get on most of the time with the very acception of a few species IE society and most Gouldians etc but even then I'd still watch em,

Being onest I'd surgest in definitely keeping em apart and is not really gonna make an awful lot of difference if they can see each other not,

I've never kept any cock birds together as quite often it just creates hassle

I agree with Stuart, two males often don't get along, especially when you are talking about Zebra finches. You may have to keep them apart permanently.
