New and need light help :)

Hi all!
I am new to the world of finches -- I have three gouldians (I wanted two, but the guy had a HUGE aviary and was downsizing so he threw in another male for free... who could say no?) They are gorgeous, and I just love love their warbles.

Anyway, I have them in this cage:

It's beautiful, and is a real centerpiece in my dining room/foyer at the front of the house.
It's near a window, but I feel like the birdies need more light. The roof of the cage is solid (except for two wire portions on either side of the rounded top), and it's very... "dark". They haven't seemed to mind yet -- they have been in this cage for a few days now, previously living in a plain wire flight cage.

Any suggestions on how to add some light without ruining the aesthetic look of this cage?

Would you do two clip ons over the wire grates at the top??

Any and all lighting suggestions appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Lovely cage, but a tough one to light. Is there any way you could fasten a small strip under-cabinet type light inside the cage, under the topmost part of the roof? It is always better to have lights above the birds, though sometimes we have no choice but to fasten a small light on the side of the cage.

@Kat Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care. If you put your general location in your profile, it makes it easier for members to suggest where to get supplies, etc.

I like Sally's Idea. I have a very small under cabinet light from Walmart . If you cannot connect it inside it may be small enough to connect at the highest part of the wires on the cage in the back on the outside. It is a beautiful cage. Welcome from Massachusetts.

I thought about doing under the top, !)5 I worry they will hit it and hurt themselves!! Am I overthinking it?

There are two small grates on the top of the cage that I may be able to do some clip lights there.... I'll have to investigate!!

Your cage is beautiful, I've never seen it before.
