male female?

The other day the man at the petshop told me a blue gouldian finch was a male .. the coulours was bright and looked like a male but had a dark grey beak, can the blue male gouldian finches also have dark grey beaks? i thought it might be a female

If he is very young and the beak has not turned to the adult color yet yes, otherwise no.

Is it unusual for my female finch to sit and breed on her eggs alone? i have 2 males and 2 females but shes sitting on the eggs alone and chases all the other finches away

Usually only one sits on the eggs at a time. Maybe she wasn't ready to switch with her partner or is she never allowing the male to sit on the eggs? This would be unusual.

she never allows the male to sit on the eggs im not sure which one of the two are her partner to be honest but she has 3 eggs the last time i look and has been sitting on it for about 10 days already
