When the kids first jump out they are super clumsy and I always put down a puppy pad a day or so before.

I don't how big your set up is, but if they are in a typical flight cage the fall won't hurt them. It's the possibility of getting hung up on the cage grate on the bottom and breaking a leg or wing that is the danger.

Thankfully they are fast learners and within hours will begin jumping and flying from perch to perch, copying their parents.

To be sure I keep puppy pads in the cage bottom their first week. A towel will do just as well.

If you dont want her to have another clutch, toss the eggs. Take out the nest.

I remove the nest after a clutch fledges or one of my females attacks her kids once she sits tight. When I remove the nest, she goes back to being a great mom and feeds her juvies.

karenstr I just let them carry on as they please. The cock feeds the chicks when they are out of the nest. My gouldian hen started laying again one day after her chicks fledged.

I try to think what happens in the wild. The chicks will leave a hole in a tree branch and they will in most cases plop down on to a lower branch and by the time the day is over they are well alone in being able to get around.

I have been breeding birds for over 30 years everything from parakeets to large macaws and cockatoos, and finches. trying to follow nature has always worked for me. They will be fine and congrats
