Post by mick1933 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 7:24 pm

Hi. Can someone tell me what would be the offsprings of the following-
Heavily variegated Red Headed Parrot Finch X Normal RHPF and
Lightly variegated RHPF X Normal RHPF.

Thanks Mick.
10 Fyfe Canaries (bred a couple) ,2 pair of mosaic canaries, about 20 or so red factor canaries, 8 button quail, 1 fox terrier dogs (Roxi my girl dog died), no mice or rats but holes in the lawn.

Sounds like the pied is a dominant -sort of- with little or no predictability.
I've been looking for some RHPF with no success.

Yes, pied is regarded as a dominant mutation, when I bred pied to my normals, I only got a few white feathers on the offspring. If you take light pieds and breed them, you might get heavy pied offspring.
