So I am a new finch mom as of yesterday! My local SPCA recently seized over 500 animals from a pet store on the grounds of neglect (about time- this pet store had always been questionable) and held an adoption event yesterday. I was just tagging along with my friend, but I saw this little zebra lady and I had to have her. She had a friend (who I wasn't allowed to adopt due to the 1 animal per person limit- which I think they should have waived for social animals) but I've been in contact with a breeder and am going to pick up a boyfriend for her on Monday. In the meantime she's incredibly active and loud and has kept me up with her chatting since 6 this morning.
I'm familiar with other softbills but not finches- when I bring her new buddy home, is there any protocol I have to follow when introducing the two?
Thanks in advance

Ulysses- Frosted Canary
Cora- Fawn Zebra Finch
Kazoo- Silver

Thank you Fraza! Yes, this is a very well-known breeder in my area and his birds are gorgeous.
Also, I’ve just noticed- she’s been pooping fine as of recently, but a few this morning are kind of clay coloured? The urates are fine and normal, but the actual poop is clay coloured. Her poop was normal until now- and again I have fed her bok choy. Could it just be stress/adjusting to a new environment? She seems perfect otherwise! She makes my canary look like a couch potato!

She looks bewildered! New home and all alone. Pretty bird! She will be happy to see her new companion.

Does it look a bit like this? This is one of my newest Zebs although this was when she was still very young.
Sorry the photo didn’t rotate right.

Flight Feathers she’s a bit darker than that hen I think, but their colours are similar! Again, the lighting is less than stellar but here’s a pic of her bars- not quite black, but not very light either. (Although it does seem black in the picture, but IRL it’s not.) More of a slate gray than anything.

There are a lot of different shades of fawn. The one I attached a pic of is a very pale fawn.
