heat and moulting

I have 3 gouldian which r about 3 months old
They r starting to show color. Does that mean they r starting their moult?

They r in cage with 1 female canary.

We just had our first winter storm today.
Unfortunately the only place in my apartment to keep them is in the area near the door/windows.

I read online when moulting have to be kept at 75 at night?
I'm not using heater yet at night.

I've put curtains around door area and covered lower part of windows today. Old single paned drafty apartment windows.

One bird was covering head in feathers today at times.
Is the light over their cage too bright maybe?

I was thinking of adding a heat lamp near their cage or a mini heater.

I've never had gouldian before and never been through a moulting.

Would a black or red heat lamp be best?
How far from cage?
Would heat lamp light cause problem with canary since I read they need dark at night?
Would a mini heater, which is really just a fan with some heat element for the fan air/wind to pass through, be too drafty for them?

Tomorrow temperature due to drop about 10 degrees lower than tonight.

Also do they need any specific length of lighting time to help with the moulting?

2 will be blue backs
1 is split to blue
All r males

 #-o
Don't have a clue what I'm doing. But they r sooo cute :)

I don't have much knowledge about Gouldians, but I do raise Canaries.

The temperature doesn't matter so much for Canaries. Mine are in an outdoor aviary (central Kentucky, USA) and they handle cold well. If your window is drafty, set up an area in your cage that has some protection from that.

Day length is very important for Canaries. They need a length of day that mimics the outdoors. The light at night should be low enough that it would be difficult to read a newspaper.
