Since my bird cage is in the livingroom, now that the days r getting shorter,
It gets dark before I am out of the livingroom.
I don't want to just turn off the lights unexpectedly.
Currently I turn them off slowly until only the more yellow light furtherest from them is on.
Then wait until seems all settle down and then turn on night light and turn off last light.
1/2 hr at least for this ritual.
And they don't like the lights closest to them all going dark at once either.
Are there dimmer lights that would mimic its going dark naturally?
And make it an automated process without me present?

Re: lights on at night
I've never worried about that. They will usually begin to settle down at dusk regardless of room light or activity.
I do have a night light plugged into an outlet. These come on at dusk automatically and stay on all night. Just enough light for them to see and not thrash around in the dark if something startles them.
