I just read that Kateri Davis was bringing Turacos and Mousebirds to the Creature Festival in Chehalis, WA, on April 9. That would be an interesting talk to attend. www.creaturefestival.com

Now that's something you don't see everyday. I was flabbergasted (pardon the corniness) just seeing these birds at the bird fair. They were violet turacos, but I was still amazed by them none the less. It's very exciting to hear you have a fertile egg. Please keep us posted, I would love to see what their chicks look like and sound like, and congrats!

i keep the pairs in 12ftx10x8ft tall flights! huge cages lol!

kateri does not have the buffons or persa right now... wish she did!!!

yes i do work with different zoos and breeders and we trade babies back and forth or other birds...

there are not very many PERSAs in the usa... and hardly NO buffons! so this egg and baby is VERY important!!!

:)

trust me! pics will soon be headed this way!

How are the parents egg/baby??
I don't know how long they incubate, but that egg must be getting close??

Do the Turacos hatch pretty helpless or are they more like gamebird chicks up and ready to go within a few hours?

Congratulations on the fertile egg! Hoping it hatches for you.

I'm pretty sure he posted about a baby right now on NFSS - he has a fuzzy just maybe not this same one that was in this post. :)
