Paradise Tanager

Since I couldn't get a photo of the Paradise Tanagers today, my friend said she would email me some photos. This is the Paradise Tanager--beautiful bird!!

If that is the bird that I saw at the local bird mart, it is an EXPENSIVE bird. I saw "something" at $900 for the pair. At that price I did not pay much attention to it, and forgot the species name, but paradise tanager somehow sounds familiar.

I think they are stunning birds. Are they on your list, Sally? I think $900 a pair is a very reasonable price, considering what I've seen them listed at. I'd LOVE to have them. Hopefully, someday they'll be more reasonable. :mrgreen:

Canary: Blue, Red & Yellow, BC Cordon Bleu, Strawberry, Star, European Goldfinch, Owl, Shaftail, Splendid, Rosey Bourkes, Cocker Spaniel gal, Portuguese Water guy, and a freshwater tank. (no partridge, but I do have a pear tree).

Yes, they are very expensive birds, so definitely out of my reach! I tell myself that I have my hands full already, but if I could, I would have a pair in a hot second! I would like to get into softbills one day, but will probably start with Montane white-eyes first, they are supposed to be the easiest softbills for beginners. I have wanted Honeycreepers for a long time, but one step at a time. I need to figure out these Purple Grenadiers before I think about tackling another species.

SWA has some pretty tanagers from $200-$550 a pr.
I also would love to try softbills one day but for now I have enough to care for.

Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.
