If that is the bird that I saw at the local bird mart, it is an EXPENSIVE bird. I saw "something" at $900 for the pair. At that price I did not pay much attention to it, and forgot the species name, but paradise tanager somehow sounds familiar.

I think they are stunning birds. Are they on your list, Sally? I think $900 a pair is a very reasonable price, considering what I've seen them listed at. I'd LOVE to have them. Hopefully, someday they'll be more reasonable.

Yes, they are very expensive birds, so definitely out of my reach! I tell myself that I have my hands full already, but if I could, I would have a pair in a hot second! I would like to get into softbills one day, but will probably start with Montane white-eyes first, they are supposed to be the easiest softbills for beginners. I have wanted Honeycreepers for a long time, but one step at a time. I need to figure out these Purple Grenadiers before I think about tackling another species.

SWA has some pretty tanagers from $200-$550 a pr.
I also would love to try softbills one day but for now I have enough to care for.
