i have a query ...to all finch keepers whom may insist finches need cuttlefish
for calcium...i believe i read too much can harm them by hardening inside their
gastric system?...may i suggest, trying ground flaxseed mixed into their egg food.
mine like it...it has amino acids and omega fats too.
my bird will not eat any fruits/veggies/grains...why?..how can i encourage him to get a variety.there is some good vegetarian lectures that source nutrients at their source you may like to watch.DR janice stanger for eg has some very good info about protein/calcium/vitamin myths.
do veggies need to be cooked for the birds?.

Veggies don't need to be cooked for our birds, though some do cook some of them. Try slicing rounds of cucumber. Though not particularly nutritious, it is relished by most birds and can get them trying different things. Try offering romaine (cos) lettuce or kale, either a full leaf or chopped into tiny bits. Slice rounds of corn on the cob. Chop into fine bits broccoli, or carrots, or cabbage. Thaw out frozen veggie mixes of peas, carrots, beans.

Try cooked quinoa, as when cooked it has the appearance of sprouted seed, may get them to try it. Most of my finches don't eat any fruit.

I also mix ground flaxseed into their mashed hard boiled eggs.
Fruit they've never eaten.
Veggies....so so. Broccoli seems about the only thing they enjoy.
Yesterday I took the leaves off a cauliflower head & they ate them up.
Romaine every day which they finish off with gusto.
Also mixed dried herbs into their eggs, & oatmeal ground really fine.

euphonia I could only find information on the Violaceous Euphonia. They are like Tanagers in that they are fruit-eaters. Scroll down to section 4.10 in this link, it may be of some help.
