But the prices are too high...
Oh my, oh my, oh my....
I cannot tell a lie...
I feel like I might cry...
Why, oh why, oh why...
Must the prices be so high???

Yeah prices are higher for softbills but there are always bird shows, especially the one in Orlando, they have hundreds of softbills at a fraction of the price of what you see advertized online.

How come there isn't a softbill forum? Granted I love finches but I have yet to find a community like one here dedicated to such a diverse group of birds.

I love the softbills, but most of them are beyond my budget. They are so beautiful, but I think they need more space than I can spare anyway. You are lucky where you are, I've heard the Orlando marts are amazing. I'm not a Facebook fan, but I think there is a softbill group on Facebook.

There is now a new All Things Softbills branch on this forum.

There is an Orlando show this coming Sunday, April 12th. They usually have at least two vendors there with all kinds of softbills. I will try to get pictures for the new softbill section.

I did receive a notice from the owner of the show, they are down sizing the show to 2/3 what the floor space currently is now, this will occur for the June show. April's show will remain the same.

That would be great, cindy !
The more pics you could take the better, and if you could get the prices too, better still. ;-)

Sunbay, I simply adore your Blue Dacnis. Your pictures and endearing stories of them first turned me back onto softbills and I had so hoped to get a pair from Jan Door with Pride Aviary but she retired last year before the next mart I'd be attending.

@NewTampanian - How are all your softbills doing?

Thank you so much!
I have 2 pair + 1 hen now, of the Blue Dacnis. They continue to be the Rock Stars of the house. :-)
I am still looking for 2 males.
They all have just about finished getting new pin feathers in, and the males are starting to be very interested in the hens. No eggs so far.

Brenda's Birds, in Delray, FL gets softbills in often. She may have Black-faced dacnis. Andy Padron, at Feathered Wagon gets them also. His last shipment had Blue Dacnis hens, but no males.

I just had some business cards made up - featuring a Blue Dacnis, of course. :-)

Best,

Lauren

Sunbay - You should start a breeding/husbandry thread for the Blue Dacnis in this new subforum. It would be immensely helpful to potential new owners.
