Thanks everyone for your kind words!
They are calming down nicely and the male had sung a few times!
The hen is a little more jumpy but coming around.
I bought meal worms yesterday and they ate, like they were starved.
Also, they prefer apples to oranges. They will go through half an apple a day, but the orange, just a few pecks.

I'm negotiating right now for my next pair. The fellow wants 8 gouldians for them. I don't mind giving up that many, but he wants adults along with young. All I have is greens, no yellows this year.

I can't wait till 01/24/15!!!!!'

Oh my goodness!
These are incredible!
Look at those big eyes!

I saw a pair of nightingales at a show many years ago and I've wanted a pair ever since! They're so incredibly lovely.

I hope you have luck breeding them!

What do these lovelies eat? Are they mostly fruit and seeds? Or lots of insects?

There are very few of them here in Canada (not sure about the USA). Here they are almost impossible to get, and they are very expensive.

Just a quick update!
Ceased and Cleopatra still don't have eggs, but she is working
on and perfecting her nest!
I think the male isn't quite ready yet?
They get gut loaded super worms, four each a day and pears, apples, grapes,
any fruit I have available and their special Softbill food.

Wow! That's a lovely little nest!

You must be doing something right! Just a matter of time, I expect before you have little nightingales! (I love that word....Nightingale. So elegant and pretty....just like the birds!)

What's the little device with metal bars that forms walls and a ceiling around the nest?
I've seen these gadgets before and I've never remembered to ask about them! I see them on lots of finch/canary sites, like Glam Gouldians, but there's never any real hint as to their purpose. (e.g. http://glamgouldians.com/product-nest-canary-pwire.php)

I've always guessed that they were to serve as guides for birds who craft pod-style nests with walls and a ceiling.
And perhaps to also offer a bit of privacy and to keep other birds from landing on the edge of the nest?

MiaCarter,

It's a little cage basically.
I took the door off and put it backwards.
If I put the door back on, I can use outside the cage.
It saves on space on double breeder cages.
Also I inspect the eggs or chicks for banding.
It's best used for canaries but other birds take to them.
