Duckweed is a favorite food of many waterfowl/swamp birds so it is worth a try. I grow it in my water gardens because I like it, but I have an unlimited supply 1/4 mile away in a river swamp. Because these are wild caught, age for breeding suitability is unknown. I have not been able to get the other pair moved outside due to other more "important" tasks that keep me from creating a habitat for them. I am encouraged by the nest building in the living room pair. The third pair in the planted room habitat are more secretive, probably because they can be. They duck out of sight whenever I approach.
