I have admired the different Tanager species for quite some time now.
Today, I hit upon some videos of the Scarlet Tanager and had fun watching them. I thought some of you may enjoy them as well.

Aren't they absolutely stunning looking birds?

That vibrant red color, combined with the black is so striking! That's a beautiful bird. I see blue tanagers for sale from time to time, and if I had an aviary I would definitely get a pair. Tanagers are gorgeous.

I agree, they are absolutely stunning, and there are so so many different kinds, that it just boggles the mind, with each one more beautiful than the last....
Check these ones out....

Used to own Tangara palmarum and Tangara sayaca.
Beautiful birds, but as any fruit eater they do a lot of mess, you see poop all over the ceiling and wonder how the hell it went there

I've seen a Scarlet Tanager twice in my life (I'm 66). The first time I saw one I knew instantly what it was, and I was stunned that in person this bird is so much more vibrant and brighter than any picture. They are the definition of 'brilliant'.

I have never seen any Tanagers in real life, sigh...
But I would so love to see bunches of them in the huge outdoor aviary that I would have (if I ever won the lotto....
)
I am absolutely amazed by all the different species of them, and how absolutely gorgeous they all are.
Thanks to
Ricardo, I now realize that they happen to be good singers as well.
I am really surprised, that we don't see any of them in North American Aviculture, and I wonder if it's because they are messy poopers

Ricardo, you are killing me here.
They are so so beautiful....
You should grab some of them, and send them up North, to the States, to Canada.... to me

If i could, i would, otherwise we might end up in jail
I think that's one of the reasons you don't see them in pet-stores in the northern countries, also many species are hard to breed in captivity, and they can't stand cold ass well.

Is there a law in Brazil, against shipping birds out? Like in Australia?

No, actually, you can, but is necessary a kind of special licence.
