I thought the bigger older one might be male, but it's breast color already looks kind of darkish... Soooo.... what, a lilac breast then if it's male? and the younger is so much lighter. I think she may be black head white breast when she gets into her big girl feathers. She has pink eyes
They are so different. The big one is very pushy towards the parents, begging incessantly. lol
The little pink eyed one is very shy and timid. It begs in a more reserved manner it seems. But they are both plump and healthy. The little one even let me hold it for a second, although it gave me the "I hate you" look. lol
Sorry the pics aren't great. Took 'em on my phone again.
First 3 are of the darker one. The last two are of the pink eyed one.

Does the younger one still have pink/red eyes? could be a lutino mutation if it does.... very rare in the US.
Many times the yellows will have red eyes when they are born but usually by the time they have feathered out they have turned dark. I had this happen and thought maybe I had an albinistic or lutino trait. But no.... just first time I had a yellow with red eyes that I noticed that young. :D
But if yours is fully feathered and still has red eyes..... could be something really special :D

The baby in the first thru third photos is the male I picked out in the images.
He would have to be either White or Lilac breast to be visually yellow, and I guessed it was a male based on the darker beak and darker head color.

So he must be Lilac breast then!!! How exciting!! :D

Candace, yep, her eyes are red colored. Maybe I can get a better pic of her later. I was using my phone and it has no flash. I'm sure I can capture it with a flash. The other baby has grayish brown eyes.
I'm so proud. They are so cute, if I may say so myself :-D

Here is a link to the lutino gouldians. There is a photo gallery of her birds and many pics of lutinos at different ages :D
I don't see how they could be lutinos with those parents but I don't understand why she has pink eyes??? Maybe Tiffany could shed some light on this :D

I think it is natural to see some degree of reddish brown colored eyes in the yellows - especially yellow females and DF Yellow males, where the melanins are completely reduced.

But the true bright red eyes of the Lutinos and Albinos are very different.
It would be interesting (but probably not really realistic) if her bird truly had red eyes, but from the photos, it doesn't look like this is the case.

The other thing to consider is as nestlings how much different the Lutino birds are from your average yellow.

Take these two photos - for instance:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/11859828@N ... 619774423/ (Notice how pure WHITE the outer nodules are - there is no blue color or melanin color at all)

Compared to a yellow nestling:

If you compare this to Meagan's earlier photos it is obvious her chick is simply a yellow hen :?

[-X She isn't "simply a yellow hen", she's my first! :D =D> \:D/
She does not have to be Lutino to be special to me. I only have a few pairs of Goulds so this for me is HUGE. lol. I have to keep her now. No trading this one. :-D
