Gorgeous birds... thank you for sharing and the pictures, too.

Be sure to keep us all updated on how they do... if they get along with your other finches, if you find out you have a pair, etc. etc.

I have heard the eye ring gets larger as they get older; I don’t necessarily agree with that though.
I hope these are all the same bird: DSCN0010.JPG - DSCN0004.JPG - DSCN0006.JPG (the bird in the front) = male.[/quote]

Yes the one you mention is the same bird. It's the one that let me photo it. The other one is real shy. The one in front and the one by itself is male? What about the one in the background? It's much shyer than the other. I tell you they both look alike to me. I will try and get more pics tomorrow.

Psilocybin6, This is what Mandy told me:
Hi Johnny,
We haven't had them here before but we ordered two males and two females for your order. Two of them had red further up the rump then the other two and slightly browner breast. So we shipped one of each to you. It can be hard to tell from a distance but close up you can tell.

Mandy has never been wrong in sexing birds for me unless they are absolutely too alike. And in that case I usually just order 4 of that bird hoping to get a pair.

Today I saw them, Crimson Seed Crackers, for sale at Ottawa Bird Show. Very interesting looking birds. The seller was from Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada. I got his business card. I bought 4 birds from him.

What birds did you buy? The Seed Crackers? Aren't they spectacular? I adore them. They are one of the most beautiful of birds.

No, before I went to the show I told myself [-X "no new birds except to find pairs for my lonely birds". So, I only bought two Green Singers to paired with my grown babies and females Red-eared and Orange Cheeked Waxbills for my lonely males.
There were two big sellers at the show with different birds and one had Crimson Seed Crackers for sale. They caught my attention because of their eyes. Area around the eyes make you feel that they staring at you with big eyes all the time and the rest of the feathers bright red with metallic sheen.

Hi John,

It's from a pet shop in Torronto, he imports birds from Europe as well as buying locally.

The minimum order is $2000, plus $350 for paperwork and airlines shipping.
Just do not know the quality of the birds he will send you, I got a shipment from him last night, and I am not 100% happy with the quality.

Let me know if you are interested, I will pm you the info.
