Development of a zebra finch

Post by Ameza » Thu Nov 04, 2010 2:18 pm

I did these 3 pictures for fun showing the growing of three different chicks. One is normal grey, one is medium pied and one is white. This might help people to indentify the colours of chicks so I was thinking you that have other types of zebras like penguin, cfw, bc and so on could do the same and make pictures like this. Then we might have a little chick colour database :D

This is a great idea! The descriptions online are sometimes hard to follow, especially with mutations you haven't seen before. I know I had no idea what a dominant silver or dominant cream chick would look like (descriptions often just say "diluted coloring", which doesn't say much) I thought a CFW chick was dominant silver at first, before I ever actually produced one. I'm embarrassed to say it, but its' true.

Good job! =D>

Well I couldn't resist and made one more, since I had so many pictures of him and he is quite unusual. Skuggi or Two face, a heavily pied zebra finch.

It took him forever to finish molting into his adult colours, that is the cheek. His brother had been in full colour for many weeks until the cheek finally filled in. I wasn't sure it would ever to that.
