It looks like the egg from the Swee isn't fertile after all. I just hope I have more females out of the bunch that went to Donna's aviary that still haven't gotten down to business :? I would think in her HUGE aviary they would have produced by now....

These Waxbills are so much more work than the Gouldians - the different food sources, the drama, the tossing and not even knowing if you have pairs is just a full time job (almost)!

They haven't done a thing yet, but they sure are cute sitting in their little nest looking out at me every time I go in there. Just adorable little things!!

Aren't they?! I love their gray faces with those big dark eyes! And the black and red beaks just top it off! Almost like a deer - big sappy eyes! lol

I'm getting ready to make some serious changes in this bird house!

Some of them I will post this evening but adding a few species to the mix is having me rethink the whole set up and the pros and cons of my original thoughts and why I did certain things from the beginning and if it worked or not...

I'm excited - birds aren't yet but hoping they will be :D

I'm intrigued too, can't wait to hear what changes you are making, since we have many of the same species. Besides posting here, this might be something for that sticky on things you would do different.

Are you expanding to bigger birds along with your finches? The linnies and bourkes?
