chasing

Post by awranic » Mon Aug 07, 2006 12:39 pm

I have 2 zebra finches a male and female. The male chases the female quite a bit and I get concerned. Mainly she starts looking tired. Is it normal for him to be chasing her so much or is there something I can do. I have been separating them at night the last week of so. :(

Hi!

Are there any signs of aggression, ie plucking, bleeding, etc? Or are they perhaps breeding? I've watched my male chase the female around when he's in breeding mode.

Zebras breed so much that you could be witnessing that

I'm not sure. Right now she is not having any eggs which is unusual. Seems to be chasing all the time. She doesn't seem to interested in sex when she doesn't have eggs so I'm just thinking this might be the conflict.

Oh-He doesn't seem to do much harm. He'll take a few feathers and generally she just gets tired.

hi
are there any nests in the vicinity of these 2 zebras,if there are any and you dont want them to breed remove the nests as that could be a reason why he is chasing her.but that is not unusual for zebras to chase each other when trying to breed.as long as he doesnt pull any of her feathers out

ken
you can always tell a yorkshireman, but you cant tell him much

It sounds to me like he's just a mean jerkwad. Male zebras can have really rotten personalities.
