Re: TURACO egg!!!!
almost! that is the PERSA turaco...
this egg is from the VERY VERY rare subspecies called the BUFFONS!
only real physical difference is that the persa has two white eye lines and the buffons has one!
from different ranges. and have a few other small color differeces
i also have 2 pairs of the persas btw

Re: TURACO egg!!!!
Gottcha...is this it? The first time I googled this: persa buffoni or BUFFONS turaco and the first bird came up...this time I did just Persa turaco.
Both are stunning birds!
Since they are rare are you involved in any breeding programs for zoo's with avairies?

Re: TURACO egg!!!!
Congratulations!!! What a gorgeous bird! I'm so excited for this egg. I have a question though - how do you plan on hand-feeding this baby? I'm thinking a society finch will probably not be the greatest foster choice. And what will you feed the chick when it arrives?
God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored.

Re: TURACO egg!!!!
Perhaps a Trio of societies would work ;)
(Probably need all three just to cover that egg alone !)
Congrats! Stunning birds!
How did you get started with them, and what is your aviary set up for their needs (whatever those needs may be

Re: TURACO egg!!!!
That is fantastic news, Chase! Such incredibly beautiful birds. I wish you much success with them. Are there other breeders who are working with this species in the U.S.? Also, I'm wondering if this shouldn't be in Off Topic, since this bird is in a different family from the Passerines.
