Blue Caps and Green Singers

Although I bred a limited number of canaries many, many years ago, I've never worked with finches before and I have a couple of questions.
According to my reading on the Internet - if I want Cordon Bleu Blue Caps (not for breeding) I should get 1 male or a male and female or 2 males. I am confused. I see that the males get aggressive at breeding, but if I don't have any females, will that still happen? I'd love to try breeding them, but it sounds pretty iffy for someone who is new to breeding these guys.
I also would like to get a green singer. Same questions as above. I will have a stacked double flight cage with dividers, but would prefer to take the dividers out of the top cage (giving me 64 inches of horizontal space) and leave the bottom cage with the dividers in place in case I need to do any splitting up. Can I keep a pair of green singers and a pair of blue caps in the longer flight cage or am I asking for trouble?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't keep them together as both species can be aggressive
when breeding. I have seen little green singers beat the snot out of
canaries because they came near the nest!
Don't risk it.

I have green singers and rccb's and all four pairs had to be separated, as they were aggressive during breeding. They all have individual breeding cages. I have Society, Spice in one flight and Orange Cheeked in another flight.

I don't keep green singers, but my BC Cordon Bleu's are never aggressive...even when breeding. All the birds in with the BCCB's are non-aggressive species though (Gouldians, Owls, Stars, Orange Cheeks).
