HELP URGENT!
My other rccb pair, who were sitting on two eggs, both are on the floor of the cage, puffed up and trying to go to the bathroom. The cock finally pooped a white mass that was solid, but we thought looked like an egg at first, til we realized it was the male. The hen's vent looks wet. Help please. I put them both in a hospital cage in our bathroom with a heat lamp and now what?? Thanks.

What have they been eating in the last day or so...can you take a picture of the stool. The females bottom is it sticky like a white of an egg?

Re: HELP URGENT!
If they are both affected at the same time then the cause is either something they both ate (anything new) or something in the environment (cooking odours, sprays (perfumes, hairspray, air cleaners, etc), teflon cookware allowed to get too hot, paint odours, etc).
Hospital cage and heatlamp is perfect for starters. Can you identify what they were exposed to?

They are with all the other finches and so I'd think the others would be sick too. They had the normal eggfood, shredded carrot and broccoli and seed/pellet mixture. The vent on the hen was wet and sticky and the male passed a white narrow stool, but seems better now. The hen looks weaker by the minute.

If you can list everything they got to eat that is new. Also if you sprayed anything, used paint or a cleanser you want fresh air ASAP...open a window.
When you pick her up be gentle, was she due to lay an egg today or has she passed one? She may have broken an egg inside. Keep them warm until we find out what happened.

If you think there is any chance she could be eggbound - give her a drop of liquid calcium to her beak and put her back in the hospital cage. Get a towel and soak it in hot water and wrap the cage with the towel - do not let the towel touch the heatlamp. This will help her pass the egg if you believe that may be the cause for her. In which case the male is coincidental in getting ill at the same time with something else.

Re: HELP URGENT!
Vitamin deficiencies could be causing the male's problems, and the female could be egg bound or could have been egg bound and had the egg break.
