seed cover in hatchling mouth :((
while i was inspecting the nest some piece of seed cover/shell? drops exactly in 1 of the hatchlings mouth while it was open. he is only 2 days old hope it wont hurt him.

That's pretty young. Hope for the best and hopefully it will pass through the digestive system. I would avoid doing too many nest checks when they are that young -- invasion of privacy, regardless of species during the sensitive breeding period, usually does more harm than good. Prayers that the baby makes it okay.

this is sound advice,they dont need to be inspected every day,they manage fine in the wild so they really dont need to much inspecting,it should pass through ok but remember they have no way of grinding up hard stuff at that age .if you had a pair of plastic tweezers handy you could have maybe fished it out! but its to late to worry now as i said it should pass through ok....let us know what happens

ye i regret it now that i checked on them, so unlucky to drop exactly in his mouth. Tommorow i do last check to see if he survived hopefully and i will let you know.
