Hen or..?

It has come to my attention that Slimus is infact, a hen.

Now I did think about that! Because he isn't the most colourful of gouldians, the yellow is a little deeper irl but not as bright as I expected. And the beak didn't look very finchly masculine either.

I thought it was because he was young, and that he didn't moult very well because he was moved and kind of got stuck in it. Plus I thought maybe the white breast would affect colour.

But mostly it's the noises that convinced me! The blue hen, Max, can only make this peep noise, and it sounds patheticly cute. Slimus however make alot more different noises, and is noisier (now) in general.

I tried looking on youtube for a male singing but ugh, most videos had like a flock of other birds calling in the background and I couldn't hear what a song sounded like!

Can anyone help? Is he definetely a hen? :o

Oh and I forgot, she has those longer, sharp black feathers coming out of her tail. Another overnight thing.

She is very cute =D>
The hen also have these longer tail feathers, but they are longer on the male in general. So everything is just the way it should be

I think the sound of a male Gouldian singing is sort of like a squeeky wheel sound. :D The first time I heard it - made me think of a gerbil running around on its wheel sound. Not very loud yet high pitched though. I don't mind it at all and enjoy their sweet and calm personalities so much!
