Before Buying a Goldfinch

Hi All,
before buying a goldfinch,check to see
if the MALE goldfinch has bright redhead ?
bright redhead male goldfinch has less parasites.
less parasites = more healthy bird.
before buying a goldfinch,check to see
if the male goldfinch has long tail ?
female goldfinches choose long(er) tailed males
before buying a goldfinch,check to see
if the male goldfinch has bright colors ?
in general female birds choose bright colored males
bright colored birds = healthy birds.
before buying a goldfinch,check to see
if the male goldfinch has large head,thick and long legs,long and thick bill?
do you know why ?

Thanks for the information!

It's hard to get good Goldfinches here in Canada!
Usually they are wild birds brought in from Australia
and/or Eastern Europe.
They are stressed and very poor shape.

I have had many, and they never last more than a few years.
Even my Siberian Goldfinch that produced many mules,
up and died on me when he was three years old.
I still have one of his sons that is now also three years old.

I would like to have another one or pair, but I will only buy them if their are cage/aviary bred here.

do you know why ?

My guess it is then it has a better song.Here are some of my newest photos of my breeding pair.Mask looking nice!
