Worried!!!

Well Lucy was from a diff lady. She had her with a cordon bleu and he passed away.
I got the Gould hen, and Pirate (my yellow gould thats now sick) back in August or sometime around there. I got those two together from the same place.
They appeared healthy and were in quar, as I do will all new birds. Its just recently since the Hen has been moulting I would say that its started to happen.
Thing is Lucy isnt on the same floor as the goulds. I dont know if it can travel, or what.
I thinking ASM for the goulds cause the females clicking is getting alot worse as the days go by. I hear it jsut standing by the cage now

Everyone has a different quarantine routine, what do you treat them with if anything?

Bird medication is specialized stuff. The petshops only carry the general stuff and those have to be carried by the major pet supply distributors. Most shops don't deal with small specialized vendors.

Even here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have to mail order my meds or get it at the BirdMart from dealers that carry MorningBird product.

Ok my RH Yellow male isnt fluffed up anymore, seems more active, but has that clicking, or wet click sound when he moves around or sits on the perch. Sometimes you see him rolling his tongue around in his mouth and swallow then hear that wetish clicking.
The female RH gouldian is doing this as well. And her feathers dont have the bright sheen anymore.
I think that is is ASM or a combination.

And update on my Green Singer, Lucy. I recently bought a very large cage, and put her in with the male again. She is active once again, and is singing! I havent heard any clicking, or anythign liek that. She appears to be back to normal....

When the medication comes in I will be treating all of them, and hopefully whatever this is will be taken care of.

I finally got the S76. The postman delivered it to my door this morning.
I began treatment for my gouldians, and green singers. The gouldian hen is not looking very good, and is loosing more and more feathers, the clicking is heard all the time, her feathers have become very dull...

*btw, I wanted to update the female gouldian.
I forgot to mention that her breastbone is easily felt. In my Gouldian Moulting post I had pics of her and her feather loss. Well the last week its gotten even worse, and she has bald spots around her head, and body. Her flight feathers are almost all out, and when she flies its not very high.

I really dont know how long she will survive, but Im doing what I can to help her.
I have the S76 in the water and put some on the back of her neck, and feet (those appear dried)
I will also be picking up some Amoxitex, Worm Away, and Probiotic tomorrow.

I was told that I can give her some apple juice for now to hget some fluids into her.

She still has energy surprisingly, and sings at times. I just dont liek the site of her atm, and the clicking. Shes very thin in comparison to my other goulds....where they feel chubby!

She is so dull looking and the feathers have lost luster. The normal green back coloring on her back is gone to a lighter shade, and even the purple on her chest looks almost beigey purple. Even the feathers that have grown back on her chest from a few weeks ago when she was loosing them, are not laying how they normal should. That look ratty and kind of curl out.

Have you given her supplemental feedings to keep her from losing weight? She may need some Thrive or Vitalize by beak to get her feeling better able to fight. Plus, don't forget that with ATM, if the mites are numerous, a treatment of meds can kill them all at once and she may suffocate on the dead mites in her lungs etc. I pray she is not that sick and will respond to a few treatments. Keep us posted.

I pray she will make it, but definitely give her some electrolyte mix by beak, such as Thrive or Vitalize or even Quick Gel dissolved in warm water.

Thanks very much Deborah. Lets hope she responds to the S76 so far. I was reading that after 24 hrs you should see some improvement. Fingers are crossed.

Question: how can I give her electrolyes but mouth? Just hold her and when she pecks at it put some in her mouth? And how much shall I give her?

I mix up one small cup/ounce and use a cc syringe. I use the syringe to draw up more than I give at one time and then push out until there is only 0.1 cc in the syringe at a time. That way, I won't make the bird aspirate. I place the syringe at the side of the beak and sometimes need to put a little pressure on the beak for them to open. As soon as they open I push the plunger to give them the liquid. This may take a few tries if you bird does not cooperate, but if she is sick, she probably won't fight it and will appreciate how much better she feels with some liquid energy.
