Open mouth breathing

Post by Geordie » Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:29 am

Hello all,

Bit worried about one of my Javas, Riff. He has become increasingly aggressive over the last few days towards Raff with the swaying of the head "don't bother me stance". He always loves his baths but hasn't had one for 2 days now and is now sitting on a perch and breathing through his mouth with a bit of a wheeze. It is not airsac mites becuase I had him swabbed. His diet seems to have decreased a bit as well.

Any ideas?

Could he be stressed? Anything change in his environment? New birds, cage moved, etc?

I added some new perches and a rock pool, that's about it. He could be stressed though as it looks like he is molting now, feathers flying everywhere, he seems to have picked up but he is still very irritable.
