I'm so sorry!! it happens. its also likely that he may have had other underlying issues.

thanks, i was thinking, maybe I handled him too much, the parents didnt seem to mind. yes, he could have had underlying issues, like u mentioned............he was a strange color, i could swear he looked exactly like a sparrow!! the clutch before him didnt look like that.

It's always hard to lose chicks.
I don't think handling him had anything to do with it, it is likely he had some other birth defects that you did not know of and caused his passing.

You did all that was possible to do for him.

Not trying to be a bummer, is this the only baby out of both clutches that your two have had?
It's likely they are related if this is so, that, or one or both parents have issues and should not be bred again for further difficulties with chicks. it's likely that most of the eggs were late DIS and this one just happened to make it out and survive longer then supposed to. If you think of it that way, he was a strong little one. RIP little zebbie

The parents are not related, she bought the male at the store, and the female from a breeder

So sorry you lost this little one, but there may have been other issues that you were not aware of. I merged the two threads about this baby into one for continuity.
