Got new Flight Cage

Post by wilkifam » Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:51 am

Picked up a Beautiful HUGE flight cage yesterday that I found on Craigslist for $25. It is 5' high by 18" deep by 4' wide. It is used, and was in a storage shed for the past several months. I housed zebra finches and goulds. My question is what is the best way to clean and sterilize it. It is too big to clean in the house, so will have to do it outside. Bleach water? Simple Green?

Personally I would go with the bleach water. Sounds like a nice size, good luck with it.

Bleach and a tiny bit of lysol is what I use...outside with the hose and a good scrub brush. Lysol first, rinse then bleach, rinse and sun dry. I have simple Green but honestly never used it on the cages.

Since my cameras have gone camping with my hubby, I will have to wait till next week to take a pic. It should be cleaned up by then and I'll post a pic. Just need to decide who gets to be the first resident(s).

safest way and to get any toxins off the cage wire is 2 cups of white vinegar to 2 litres water
