Finch Cages

Where do people usually go to buy their cages for their finches (ie. gouldians/owls)? I was looking at something just like this, http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=221073038, but didn't want to spend like 60 bucks.

Petco online is $40, but in store they're selling for about $60 and they don't price match the website. Where do most breeders get their cages from without spending too much for multiple/several cages? I'm planning on having multiple cages in the future and didn't want anything fancy, maybe just rows of the same type of cages (looks neater that way). I'm in San Francisco so any tips would help.

Both are really nice cages of good quality and shipped promptly. The first set have no dividers built in but do have a stand included, which is on wheels. It looks really nice but I had to put rubber pads on each shelf to keep the cages secure as they slide on it easily.

The second set, with the dividers, aren't as fancy without the stand but stack very securely on top of each other and I actually prefer them because the divider can be very handy - but also, they have 4 feed dishes per cage, which is easy to get spoiled by!

ETA: One last thing to mention - if you do stack cages on top of each other, while they sit very securely - there is one drawback. The middle and bottom cage will not get much light at all, so you will probably have to install a lighting strip (these are inexpensive - can get for 10-25 dollars at Home Depot) to lighten it up sufficiently in there.

Check out this site. You do have to buy a case of cages, but if you want multiple cages, it can be a good deal. These also have the pull-out grate, which I would think would make them easier to clean (I don't have any of this new style, so can't vouch for them).

Some of those prices are INSANE! I've bought cages just like that fo $17 to $22.00 new and the stand for $30.00. Those were the breeding set ups I used to use for my canaries. Maybe I should go into the cage business? Bob

I've found some local places (petstores) which provide longer flight cages for finches and canaries which they really enjoy. Its definitely to be recommended. Birds need more space. I have one little chap, a starfinch, who has a smaller cage, but he cannot fly. The others really need it.

I still love my a&e side by side double aviary. I google shopped mine and found great deals both times. The best cage for me and my finches!

Wait till around holiday time if you can for the best sales.

I got mine at a local large Pet Warehouse type place. They had a sale on these cage types. Youy might need to look around for them. The finches love them tho!
