My male owl finch is feeding a baby plum head

Post by sharon » Sun Jul 27, 2008 8:18 pm

Has anyone ever had this happen? The baby plum has both parents but keeps up this screaming for food. One of my male owl must have gotten tired of hearing it and started feeding it today.

It didn't hatch it out it just seems to be helping out.

Other birds in the aviary will sometimes help feed fledgings. Is the owl going into a nest to feed them or have they already fledged out?

The baby has fledge 4-5 days ago. I think it's great - it's a first for me.

Well it is so fun to watch especially when others help take care of the baby.
The little owls are so sweet anyway.
I have had gouldians fledging go into the nest when their parents are feeding another clutch and help with that. They learn from their parents quickly. Enjly!
