You know it's bad when you get that 'woah crazy bird lady' look from you bf for saying to him at least your hen Tammy understands how your trying to help with her nesting and point out that you do have a special bond with her (even if she does fly frantically round the cage if your changing food lol).

On a side note, my two aren't great with human contact, they love to watch us but not get too close, anyways I had my hand in the cage briefly today and Tammy came and sat on my hand for the first time! she didn't linger for long but it's nice to have the contact.

Also when you get to work and there's seed husks all through your hand bag when you don't keep it anywhere near the bird room. I swear some mornings before sweeping I go into their room and just need to exhale to get a husk swirl started....

I get the 'crazy bird lady' look all the time, Got it from my oldest daughters mother in law yesterday! Well too bad, she asked "So whats new and exciting in your life?" That is a loaded question to a finchaholic!

That is really cute about Tammy landing on your hand, I used to be able for hand feed Charlie and Lucy, but not any more..

Nanajennie, that reminds me of a story. My spouse's grandmother had a parrot growing up and they saved the feathers the parrot shed to use while playing cowboys/indians. They once put some feathers in the grandmother's hair (who incidentally was a hairdresser), and she forgot she had them in her hair. She went all over town with several big, green feathers in her hair and people kept on looking at her. She didn't realize it until she got home and saw herself in the mirror. You know people thought she was going nuts or something.

Incidentally, a friend of mine in Austin emailed me last week and the subject of the email was Blue or Yellow. My mind immediately thought Blue or Yellow Gouldians, but she was instead wanting my opinion whether to get a specific dress in yellow or blue for a wedding. I should have known better, since she's not into birds!

You know it's bad when : your husband wants to go out to eat but insists on taking the motorcycle because the restaurant is in the same plaza as Petsmart and no way you can take a bird home on a motorcycle.
(I think he under estimates my bird transport skills)
