Fantastic room. I love it. Looks like you have a very happy and spoilt feathered family. M xx

Totally awesome
I love the wall decorations
I count 7 cages; is that how many you have
Do you find those cage nets on the bottom do a good job

Dolly, I can attest that there is not a single piece of bird seed, hull, poop, feather, *anything* on Ginene's bird room floor... I've never seen such a clean bird room in my life!!Do you find those cage nets on the bottom do a good job
I use the bird skirts too and yes, they help tremendously but always seem to have at least a small mess from someone. Ginene is like the cyborg of bird keepers... no mess whatsoever LOL

How do you clean the nets though? I would think that would be messy.

Dolly, There are actually 8 cages pictured. The middle cage in the first picture is bi-level. My breeding BC Zebras are on the bottom level and my Canary hen is in the top one. There are 2 cages is the 3rd picture. There's a breeding cage (RCCB's) on top of my white flight (Gouldians). The 9th cage is my quarantine cage, but isn't pictured. It sits on top of my oak roll top desk. My male Canary is in it right now, but will join his mate on Tuesday when quarantine is up
. I like the seed catchers, as they actually catch seed, veggies, supplements and even poop! They are machine washable and easy to clean
. Today, I was able to cut back to 8 cages, by putting my shaft tails into the long cage with a zebra pair and cut throat pair. So far, so good. That made room on the wire shelf for the RCCB breeding cage, so now my Gouldians don't have a cage stacked on their flight. On Tuesday, when Hansel's quarantine is done, I will officially be down to 7 CAGES!!! YAY ME

Absolutely beautiful! I want to do something like that in my bird room. I want to get some of the nets too as I hate the mess everywhere.
Do you have the link for them?

Ginene HOLY SCHMOLY!
I am green with envy! are you for hire? You have a knack for sure. I remember Lisa commenting on you beautiful house, I can only imaging how beautiful the rest is!
Love it! I am definitly getting some nets. I almost bought some the other day, but didn't think I would like them, I now see I will love them

PS . where in Gods name do you find the time? So impressive it's making me hate my set up LOL.

Re: My Newbie Birdroom...
Just wanted to pipe in with a great buy that I stumbled across... this is really the BEST brand for seed skirts and this is basically half price. In the stores, they are usually about 8.99-11.99. (I know it says only 30% here but in reality they are more $$ in the stores than that even).

Re: My Newbie Birdroom...
You guys have all made me feel like a million bucks
. Thanks for making such a fuss over my bird room. I was worried the first time a true "Finchaholic" (Lisa
) saw it...I wasn't sure if I set everything up correctly or not. But she LOVED it and made me feel proud of the way I care for and keep my babies. Anyway, this is the link for the seed catchers that I purchase from amazon.com. They come in tons of colors and sizes. I am very satisfied with the way they work and their quality. I wash them in the washing machine on a light cycle and put them right back on my cages. Because they are nylon (surprisingly strong), only the elastic is damp when they come out of the wash.

Re: My Newbie Birdroom...
Well, I WAS going to ask you to come do one for me, but your fee is too high!
I have relative peace in my zebra cage right now. They were getting a bit rude with each other, but I pulled down all the stashed leaves they were attempting to nest with, so now nobody has a place to defend anymore. (I'm so MEAN!!!) I might just be willing to take a couple BC's, tho, if only I can figure out where to put them. Oh, I need a bird room!!!
Yours is just awesome. Do you have a comfy chair or something to just sit there and enjoy it all?

Lol!!! I have 3 BC babies...maybe 4??? Its impossible to see through the hole in the back of their bamboo nest. Marty and Peach (NG pair)are in my 60x18x18 cage now with my cut throat pair and my shaft tail pair. They are no longer the alpha pair, but I will not allow them to be bullied either (even though they deserve a spanking for burying their babies alive).
Right now I have 2 wood chairs and a small accent table in the bird room. There's also a chair at the roll top desk. The set up works for now, especially with hand feeding the babies. I have a new family room set coming in July, so my plan is to move my cushy chair and ottoman up into the bird room. I also want to add some live, indoor potted trees. Ones that are finch safe of coarse. This way the birds have fun places to land when they get their free flying time
