My Stars first clutch was thrown out because they never sat on the eggs. They have a 2nd clutch now with 4 eggs and the male for the last 2 days has been going in the nest and sitting. He will go in the nest for a good time but then comes out. The female i have seen only go in once but the male is the only one really sitting. Is that normal? Im gonna leave these eggs alone and hope they hatch.
Okay, now my rh/pb,gb male and oh/lb/gb female have bred and have a nest with 3 eggs so far. They have both been checking the nest and everyonce in a while they go in it. But the males still goes in diffrent nests. Hopefully they will sit and hatch the eggs.
My society baby is getting ready to fledge anyday now. And the parents are already breeding and ready to lay more eggs.
My bronzewings have built a nice nest and use it all the time but still no eggs.
My orangecheeks i believe to be a male and a famale because of the size and color but i still havent heard singing or nest building.

Wow - busy group there.
I think maybe your Stars are young and this is their first clutch? Just guessing as my pair of Stars are young and laid their first clutch w/o sitting (10 eggs) - I gathered them all up and gave them to my Society Finches. Now the Stars have laid 2 more eggs - 1 in the nest and 1 on the cage floor (which I put into the nest). Still no sitting - we'll see...
Gouldians may not sit tight until the clutch is lcompletely aid or close to it.
Be sure there's plenty of hardboiled egg w/shell and cuttlebone for everyone everyday along with all the other goodies for them.
