I'm busy having a second breeding aviary put together and now that all the excitement is over, I realise that I actually really need a bigger holding aviary for youngsters. Especially for the Gouldians who can take months to color up.
My current holding flight is 1.8mx0.8mx1.8m. This has served well for the couple of pairs of finches I have and my 2 pairs of canary's. But if I want to extend, I need a bigger holding aviary...
What dimensions do you work on for aviaries, per number of birds? I know for breeding pairs it is about 1m/3ft square per breeding pair (please correct me if I am wrong!). So basically my question is, how much space is needed for non-breeding birds/juvies?
Any advice/input appreciated!
