You only treat the new bird during quarantine :)

You can mix S76 in their water rather then use Scatt

If I remember correctly you have zebra finch, I don't think they are likely to have ASM though I guess it is possible. If your birds are wheezing they may have a respiratory infection and not ASM.

Not sure where you can get S76 over in Australia, though S76 is ivermectin which I'm sure is readily available over there. Maybe you can ask another bird hobbyist or a vet what the dosage would be.

Here's an article about different respiratory infections

@dutch - I believe S76 should be available there? Isn't S76 made by Dr. Rob Marshall, who is an avian veterinarian based in Sydney, Australia?

Actuallly, it turns out Australia has really strict laws on manufacturing veterinary medicine, so if you want to purchase S76, you would need to purchase it overseas, I think. Otherwise, you can try contacting Dr. Rob Marshall himself, who is based in Sydney, and ask him where you can find S76 in Australia. Others in Australia have reported using Moxidectin Plus. Have you heard of that?

I would treat all your birds as a precaution. Air sac mites are common in zebra finches and gouldians. It would be a good preventative measure (or treatment) to treat your entire flock at least once a year, or as need be.

Scott is made with moxidectin so I'm not sure it can be mixed in water.
Hopefully someone from Australia can direct you
