So he asked me how long finches live for and they live about 3~+/- 9 years. I have read. --- soc's.
He said "oh... (Slight grin he's not a bird guy)."
I said "hey! I'm getting more if they fly to heaven! "
And got me wondering. I love soc's and their ability to love anyone --- but my big fleshy hands lol.
But would I "step up" and get another breed like my fav stars (red face) or cut throats?
Are these breeds considered harder? By harder I mean do they fight amongst eachother?? If they were kept same breeds. Ill probably get just boys though.. Since I don't want dominant behavior or eggles!!!

Re: Hubby asked how long finches live...
Hello Chirpy,
It depends very much on the bird. My oldest current bird, is a 12 year old canary. He's outlived many other birds. My oldest finch was Fruit, who was seven when I had to have him put down. (He was a star finch, and very sick at the time).
I also have a 2 yr old Star finch, Merl, and a 6-9 month old Zebbie, Beaky.
