I put apple cider vinegar and garlic in the birds water every second week.It keeps them healthy and in good feather.
You need to buy it from the produce store not from the super market as you want it as having the mother in it.

Re: airsac mite treatment- Australia
So i finally recieved my avimec via post pn monday, so netted all teh birds and treated thm monday evening. They were a bit dopey for a few minutes, then were back to normal. They seem fine, but still "stuffy". I will re-treat again on monday then a week after. does anyone know how long it takes for symptoms to clear up? Will they clear up, or is the damage permanent?

adamharbeck, what did you end up putting on them? I use Ivermectin once a month on my birds. I take away their water the night before and then put several drops in the water when I give it back to them the next day. Incidentally, Ivermectin is the same stuff that my dogs get for their heart worm medicine. I give my birds and my dogs their treatment on the first of the month.

Todd,
I used the Avimec. I administered the second dose yesterday evening. I have to say they appeared to be much healthier compared to last time, much harder to catch and no panting, so I assume it's working. My favorite breeding hen (the best mother) is still raspy though. She appeared to be the most badly affected and might be permanently damaged.
