I know that Sociaty's can be strange at times. I have some strings with beads on them that hang in their cage. The ends are frayed. Today one of the males has been playing with them. He gets aholt of one strand and trys to fly away, there he is flying as hard as he can and going no where just hovering till the strand comes out of his mouth. I know it is slipping out because he will lurch away, till he recovers. Then he will go right back and try again.

My Societies do exactly the same thing with their bunch of strings with beads on them. I think they are trying to get the string for nesting. They just keep trying to fly away with the string and going nowhere fast. I feel they must get frustrated at some point. They end up ripping the newspaper from the floor and taking pieces of that into the nest once they've used up all the nesting material.
Too cute though.

They do that in mine to they absolutely love to pull a string,Not just societies .My parrot finches are crazy to they take nesting material from one nest to the other and then back again over and over they never stop.I woke up one night looked out on porch at 3:30am there still carry nesting material from one to the other with just the night light on
