Introducing Lilly and Yasmin...

Post by lovezebs » Sat Sep 27, 2014 2:41 am

Good day Friendly Finch Lovers.

~Wanted to introduce two pretty little girls who came to join the family a couple of weeks ago, or there abouts...

~ They are very dainty and pretty, so of course I have to forgive them that one of them is not a boy, as was supposed to be. :-)

It is good that they are both hens. In South Africa we have a problem breeding white Bengalese to white. Blind offspring being the order of the day. I don't know if that is true for your American / Canadian stock?

The're very nice bengies, i've a dark eyed white cock which i'm hoping to breed more from, he's paired to a variegated fawn with a clutch due to hatch any day (i'm hoping for saddleback chicks split to white)

This is about all the info i could find on them
http://www.nbfa.co.uk/Page30.html
http://www.nbfa.co.uk/page14.html

As MariusStegmann said both articles don't recommend pairing white x white regardless of eye colour

I keep seeing more and more birds here that convince me that Socies can actually be very pretty looking ;) I also love the name Yasmin.

I had no idea that that's a problem. I know that one of the girls has some sort of an eye problem in one eye. It almost seems like she has a slow blink. I didn't notice this untill after I got her home. It's not anything contagious, so I decided to keep her. It almost looks like she's giving a little wink once in a while.

There are some very lovely Socies out there. I decided on Lilly and Yasmin, because they reminded me of two delicate little white flowers. At first I considered Jasmine, but it wasn't right, so Yasmin she is.

I like it because Yasmin sounds closer to the actual oriental name, which is the origin of the word Jasmin.

Hi Padraic
These girls both have dark eyes. If they decide to breed, they would have a choice of several very handsome boys, one or two who have already made romantic advances.

I love all the names :) Fabulous birds, i have to stop looking at all these photos of nice birds as i just start thinking 'HHHMMMM maybe another bird - a crested society perhaps'.

I'd probably pair them to Gimpy and Petey and then pair up a youngster from each pairing

lovezebs you're single handedly changing my affinity to societies. Very pretty birds you got there.

Heya Padraic.
I really think you need a crested Socie... After all, what's one more bird, and a small one at that??? :YMDEVIL:

Thank you. They are sweet and pretty, and mostly peaceful and harmless. I know your a Zebra man, but I think a couple of Socie boys or girls would be worthwhile investing in, just for enjoyment of their sweet personalities, when you need a break from the sizzling spice that is Zebras.

How 'bout this sweet little girl? Her name is Penny?
