Scarlet-chested boy in his Happy-hut

Post by WrenNAustinTX » Sun Sep 28, 2014 10:14 pm

My brand new Scarlet-chested boy in his happy-hut. He is the only bird I have who likes it, and maybe its because he was born with his back toes curling under his front toes, so he more or less rests on his hocks when he perches. So maybe its nice and snuggly comfortable in there :)

He is very pretty bird. From where did you buy him? I am interested in buying 2 male scarlet chested parakeets.
I love Gouldian Finches.

I've tried those snuggly tents with my canary and finches, and all they do is poop on them! I've seen video of society finches nesting in them on youtube, so maybe it depends on the bird!

I raise scarlets, right now I have 6 Scarlet chested young from two different bloodlines, normal and cinnamons (normal males are split to cinnamon). Located in Florida. One bloodline born in early June, second bloodline born in May. PM me if interested

Personally under normal circumstance I do not recommend the snugglies for scarlets or most hookbills....the nails can get caught up in them and they are also viewed and nest, even hand tamed hookbills can become very territorial over them as they near breeding age, some even shred them.

Considering the handicap of your scarlet it probably is a comfort and less strain on the limbs and joints.
