Lol, yes. I use to breed and show champion Pointers.
We are all retired now.
I am a breeder award of merit in the Pointer world, but I also did rescue work to aid those less fortunate.

On the subject of pet shops, I paid a visit to the pet shop by my old house yesterday where I'd not been in a while. There have been two cutthroat finch hens for sale there since minimum November of 2013 - at least this is when I first saw them and I am sure they were not new then. Still 79.99, still no discount, so sad.... they're living their life in a glass box with a single perch and nothing more, day after day, no fresh food, no love. I breaks my heart.

Had exactly the same experience at Pet Land, with a Cut Throat Hen. Had been there forever. Thought I'd pick her up for my boy CT as a bride. They were willing to go down a bit in the price, but not enough...

I actually work part time at a big box pet store. We're very particular about the way any animals are handled/treated. Any signs of neglect or abuse is grounds for immediate dismissal. Unfortunately I know a lot of places aren't like that.
