New Friend(s) for my Society Family?
I recently moved my four Societies (2M, 2F) to a larger flight (40Lx20Wx34H) and they seem to love it. But I want to add (no more than 2) friend(s). I may have the opportunity to get either i) a pair (M/F) of Owl finches, or ii) a female Lavender Waxbill. I'm pretty sure the Owls will do fine, especially if there's no nest, but would a single Lavender get on with the Societies? Or would she be lonely and need a companion?

rcharrod, If you got the lavender, I would definitely get it a lavender friend. The owls will probably be ok with the societies, but unless they can protect their nest the societies will try to take it over. I had my owls with my societies but separated them for that reason.

The guy apparently only has the one female Lavender, unfortunately. Going to look at them this afternoon

rcharrod I would get only 2 more, and that's the max. Has to be a very passive pair who will get along very much with society finches

Cage is big enough for all three in my opinion if you set it up properly.

Sheather idk if I agree. Would you ever consider just getting one lavender and one owl? Or Just get the pair of owls.

Thanks for everyone's input. I ended up getting just the two Owls (he actually had 5 of them) - a M/F pair. I brought them home this afternoon, and they're resting in a quiet room. They're very skittish, way more so than my Societies, but they still seem a little freaked out from their car journey home.

rcharrod good decision, 7 birds in that cage size was pushing it. Owl finches bare very shy and flighty, but they will get less when they get used to being in a new place.

In a flight that size, you can definitely have more than four birds, without any difficulties.
Congratulations on the new Owls. I think once they get a chance to rest and settle down some, they should get along well with your Societies.
Were you hoping to breed the Owls?

Regarding breeding, I'm not sure, maybe someday. Would probably have to remove them to a separate cage to do so, though
