Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Currently have six little zebra all starting to fly. Well this little group apparently got tired along the way and settled to rest in the nearest comfy spot - which just so happened to be the nest of Kari the canary. Now, Kari isn't the best mom to her eggs, so she's sitting on plastic duds now. But what does she do when, after a meal, she returns to find her nest full of babies? After a moment of quizzical looks, she did what nature tells her to do and stuffs food down their gullets. She's had such bad luck so far I feel bad that her new babies are going to fledge far sooner than I think she expects... and then it's back to plastic eggs.

That's wonderful news Dylan. At least you know, that if she'd hatched her eggs, she would feed the babies. I wonder what was going through her mind though...
Boy, they're sure bigger than I thought they would be, and poor things, such ugly Canaries too.... must be from their father's side of the family.... Ah well, they're hungry, so I guess I may as well feed them... lol!!!

Nature in general never ceases to amaze me.
Good to know that she would take care of babies in her nest. If ever she has a real clutch, she may be in for a rude awakening, though, if she expects them to grow as fast, LOL.
So how long did the zebras stay in there?

KarenB Ha! Only about fifteen minutes, then mom and dad called everyone out and Kari just sat back down on her eggs. Poor girl.
